By contributing and sharing your story with others, you can become a part of a community where every voice is heard and amplified by creativity.
This contest is intended to get participants thinking about exploring themselves and their feelings through the written word. However, there are some general guidelines regarding submissions:
While we understand that everyone has varying viewpoints, we will not be publishing any stories that condone or encourage racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, sexism, antisemitism, or any other form of discrimination.
We welcome stories with these topics from those who have experienced them, as long as it is apparent that the behavior is being condemned.
While there is no way for us to determine whether or not something really happened to you, we do ask that you please use this writing as a way to explore what has actually happened to you in your life. While writing is creative, we ask that the impetus is genuine.
We will be checking all entries with originality reports, as well as AI-writing detectors. There is nothing that comes from the healing process of writing when work is stolen or written by a bot.
While this project is open in its form, there are some basic formatting choices you should follow. Please choose from the list which best suits your project:
Two/One-Sentence Story (50 word max)
Poem (200 word max)
Micro-Fiction (500 word max)
Flash Fiction (1,000 word max)
Short Story (3,000 word max)
Every piece of work must contain a short reflection (200-500 words) considering what the project has done for you. Some examples include:
How the project helped you understand yourself.
How the project helped you to heal.
How the project allowed you to find closure/release something.
